ERI grew out of some visionary discussions which took place at the 2014 UK DA Convention in London. The impetus was to bring together the DA fellowship at the European level, by connecting groups and national intergroups across the whole geographical area and by finding a way to work “in translation.”

The first fruit of this vision is the European Convention, an invitation to all European debtors to find a common home in a weekend of fellowship. Our conventions are a place for innovation and experimentation on how to reach the still-suffering debtor:

  • The first Convention took place in Cannes in 2015 and was organized exclusively by conference calls.
  • The 2016 Convention in Ranica (Italy) showcased the organizational skills of a national Intergroup and brought to the Convention its signature retreat experience.
  • In 2017, ERI came together in Worth (UK) and proved that a convention can be organized by a dedicated ERI committee with some local help.
  • For Berlin 2018, innovation built on previous experimentation and brought us simultaneous translation and a very successful “DA’s got Talent” evening. 

The Conventions have brought together members from 14 European countries and 4 continents, including past and present DA Trustees. Seeds for more outreach have been planted in abundance.

Throughout the year, ERI holds a conference call on the first Tuesday of every month. In addition to the monthly plenary session, work takes place in 4 subcommittees (Website and outreach, Finance, Convention, Translations).

O IRE formou-se  a partir de discussões, por certo  visionárias, que tiveram lugar na Conferência em Londres da DA em 2014. 
O objective foi unir numa visão Europeia os objectivos da DA, com os benefícios que essa colaboração pode proporcionar. 
 
Um dos primeiros frutos dessa visão foi a Conferência Europeia, uma oportunidade para todos os devedores compulsivos na Europa se encontrarem durante um fim de semana num ambiente de apoio e mútuo respeito. As nossas conferências são também um lugar para inovação e experimentação em como chegar ao devedor que ainda sofre. 
  • A primeira Conferência teve lugar em Cannes em 2015 e foi organizada exclusivamente através de telefonemas 
  • Em 2016, a Conferência de Ranica (Itália) partilhou a experiência nacional de intergrupo. 
  • Em 2017 o IRE reuniu-se em York, Inglaterra, e mostrou que a Conferência deveria ser organizada por um comité Europeu mas com apoios locais.  
  • O congresso de Berlim em 2018 foi um resultado de toda uma experiência adquirida; nesta reunião foi possível tradução em simultâneo e a iniciativa  “DA tem talento” foi muito bem sucedida. 
Estas Congressos reuniram membros de 14 países e 4 continentes o que confirma a extensão e interesse que o programa oferece. 
 
Durante o ano o IRE organiza um reunião telefónico na primeira terça feira de cada mês.  Para além dos plenários mensais,  o IRE continua o seu trabalho em 4 diferentes áreas (Web e contactos através da Internet,  Finanças, Congresso e Traduções).
